Carolina Villegas-Galaviz is a postdoctoral fellow at the Notre Dame Technology Ethics Center. As a philosopher, she works at the intersection of business, technology, and ethics.
Her research currently focuses on the ethical implications of the introduction of AI to firms. Drawing on a relatively novel moral theory known as the ethics of care, she aims to help ameliorate some of the ethical problems within AI and business ethics, exploring what we risk losing when we delegate our decision processes to algorithms.
Villegas-Galaviz received her Ph.D. from ICADE, College of Business at the Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid. She also holds a master’s in organizational government as well as bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and communication from the University of Navarra, and she won the Society for Business Ethics Founders’ Award in 2020 and 2022.
Villegas-Galaviz’s position is supported by a generous grant from Microsoft.
