The Future of Privacy, from Ireland to America

-

Location: Virtual Event

Dublin

The Law School is supporting its continued presence in Ireland and its partnerships with local firms and institutions in Dublin with an event The Future of Privacy co-hosted with Twitter on August 27, 2020. Join us as we explore privacy and law between Ireland and America and celebrate our Law School’s continued presence in Dublin and local partnerships.
Held in partnership with Twitter, this event explores privacy law in Ireland, its implementation in Dublin, and the effects on U.S. tech companies. A roundtable discussion and keynote will explore, among other issues, how the General Data Protection Regulation shapes our understanding of privacy and how compliance with the Regulation shapes the privacy practices of American technology companies in Ireland and around the world. The discussion will also touch on the relationship between privacy and innovation, and how different privacy regimes conceive of the trade-offs involved, including with respect to human flourishing and its accompanying values.
